blade is made of folded steel and has folded 12 times to create the 4096
layers to increase the flexibility and hardness of the blade and a distinct
texture is left on the blade as a result of the repeated folding during the
process. The visible tenuous undulating grain on the blade was resulted from
folded repeatedly during forging. Bo-hi (blood groove) is added to each side
of the blade which can not only lighten the blade but also balance it to
achieve optimal performance. (If you do not want the Bo-Hi, just let us know
and we can customize for you.) The blade has been special treated black acid
which create many black on the blade to increase the aesthetic value of the
sword as a whole. The black acid does not affect the quality or functionality
of the blade. Two seppas spacers secure the Tsuba. The Habaki( blade collar )
is of brass composition. This saya is hard wooden and lacquered black to match
with the black ray skin perfectly, the Sage-O is tied around the Kurikata
(knob) of the saya, the Koiguchi (scabbard mouth) and Kojiri (scabbard tip)
has been hardened. Notice: 1. The sword is attached with saya and free silk
bag. 2. Box and stand are not included.
