card game in which players take on the roles of leaders of 4 asymmetric
playing factions (Roman, Barbarian, Egyptian, Japanese) and build their
empires by placing buildings, sending workers to those buildings to acquire
new resources and abilities. Main game mechanics are: card drafting, engine
building, tableau building, set collection, resource management. It is based
on 51st State – another board game published by Portal Games. Big popularity
of Imperial Settlers has led to its further development with 7 expansions
published in consecutive years.
