The NEW Spode Judaica Challah Knife is used to cut the
loaf of challah, a sweet braided bread that signifies the gift of food. The
English translation of the Hebrew on the knife is Shabbat. The design on the
Spode Judaica Challah Knife is based on historic Judaic manuscripts from the
1880’s, influenced by early ceramic tile motifs, and features the traditional
Judaic colors of blue and white. The dominant motif consists of stylized
flowers and vines, interwoven amongst the straight-edged Star of David.
With a ceramic handle intricately detailed in blue and white, this
12-1/2-inch stainless-steel challah knife from Spode’s Judaica line makes an
exceptional gift for a family member or friend. Judaica is crafted from
Spode’s fine Imperial earthenware, and is highly collectible. In various tones
of blue on a soft ivory background, the stylized flowers and vines on the
handle are influenced by designs found on historic Judaic manuscripts and
ceramic tiles. Also featured on each side are a Star of David and the Hebrew
for ‘Shabbat,’ the main ceremony at which challah, a braided egg bread, is
eaten. The highly-polished blade is finely serrate and gently curved, perfect
for either cutting the bread, or as some traditions prefer, for remaining
symbolically on the table while the bread is torn by hand. The knife will last
