Milkweed & Monarchs – Asclepias tuberosa, or "Butterfly Milkweed" is the main host plant for the Monarch Butterfly! Monarchs have been declining for the past few decades due to deforestation.
Purpose – Milkweed is the main food source for the Monarch butterfly and they need it to survive the journey to South America. By planting more milkweed, you can directly affect the success of their migratory pattern, and their population!
Growth – Butterfly Milkweed will grow to a mature height of roughly 18" to 30" tall. They can spread about 20" to 24" wide and require full sunlight to grow.
Quality – All Milkweed seeds packaged by Seed Needs are intended for the current and the following growing seasons. All seeds are stored in a temperature controlled facility that is free of significant amounts of moisture.
Quantity – Seed Needs offers generous quantities. You can share with friends and family, or you can save the extra seeds until the following season, if properly stored.
Packets – Each seed packet displays an artful illustration of the variety to be grown, as well as detailed seed sowing information on the reverse side. They measure 3.25" wide by 4.50" tall.
