This reversible, flower style, lens hood helps prevent lens flare and reducessun glare by extending and shading the front lens element from exposure. Themounting ring attaches directly to the lens, the hood snaps onto the ringwhich also provides access to both the original 40.5mm filter threads as wellas larger 52mm filter threads. The hood is detachable from the mounting ringand reversible for storage, leaving any filters and caps in place on the lensregardless of the hood orientation. This allows you to use the original Sonylens cap or the larger lens cap included in the kit as well as leavingprotection filters in place no matter which way the hood is attached. Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light fromentering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens.
